1. How did the tradition of Christmas cards get started?
	They were created by lithographers desparate for more business	As a way of boosting World War I soldiers morale
	The Post Office created them to offset lower postal rates	19th century schoolboys practising their penmanship
In the 1830's, English schoolboys used to write home on decorative paper to show their parents their improving writing skills. In 1843, Henry Cole had 1,000 cards lithographed to send to friends, but it wasn't until the 1850's that the cost of cards and postage was cheap enough to make it a widespread tradition.

2. In the poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", what is Santa heard to exclaim as he drives out of sight?
	"HO HO HO!!"	"Merry Christmas!"
	"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a Good-Night."	"On Dasher, On Dancer!"
Newer versions of the poem have changed Santa's famous farewell to "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night".

3. Where was the first department store to feature Santa?

In 1841, J.W. Parkinson's store in Philadelphia arranged for Santa to come down a chimney, to the amazement of children. It wasn't for another 50 years however that department store Santa's became popular.
